3 Client Attraction Strategies using Instagram

In my weekly 321 newsletter (3 Client Attraction Strategies, 2 Copywriting Tips and 1 inspiring Idea), I focused on Instagram, in particular the fundamentals.

There have so many new announcements related to Instagram, over the last few weeks. From Adam Mosseri saying they've refocused back to images (aswell as videos), to the monthly subscription for verified users, and not forgetting the broadcast messaging and work accounts coming down the line.

Phew! There is so much going on.

What I've found in my years of marketing is that often the new features of a tool often take precedence in the application of the tool. So I wanted to concentrate on the fundamentals of Instagram.

Something that we often overlook.

As a bonus in the article, I've given 2 Copywriting strategies and 1 inspiring idea for using Instagram

3 Client Attraction Strategies using Instagram:

But while some of the changes are shiny objects, I wanted to focus on fundamentals for today.

1. Be consistent with quality content

One of the keys to attracting clients on Instagram is to consistently post high-quality content that resonates with your target audience.

You don’t have to post lots every day or even daily. It’s better to post high quality content consistently rather than lots of drivel type posts. Relevancy is key.

2. Balance out your content

Adam Mosseri said in late January that they overfocused on video in 2022. They’ve since balanced photos with videos. I wrote a blog about it over on my personal website because I think this is a good thing. So many people were so uncomfortable with doing lip syncing and pointing here and there, just to get attention.

As I’ve always said – do marketing your way. If it’s your thing, do it. If you don’t want to do it, then don’t do it. So I’m delighted business owners and content creators won’t be compelled to create reels that they aren’t not happy about doing.

Basically, make sure your posts, stories, reels and ads are visually appealing, engaging, and provide value to your followers. You can use a mix of photos, videos, and text-based content to keep your feed fresh and interesting.

3. Use hashtags

Hashtags are a great way to reach a larger audience on Instagram. By using relevant hashtags for your industry or niche, you can attract potential clients who are interested in what you have to offer. Be sure to use a mix of popular and niche-specific hashtags to maximize your reach.

Use a tool like Later or Jasper, these have free trials and are paid products. You can always use Sistrix which allows you up to 25 queries a day.

2 Copywriting Tips

1. Introduce yourself

Use your Instagram bio or an introductory post to tell your followers who you are and what you do. It’s often overlooked but it’s a great opportunity to highlight your skills and experience, and give potential clients a sense of what they can expect from working with you.

2. Share client success stories

Use your Instagram account to showcase your clients' success stories. This can include before-and-after photos, testimonials, or case studies. By highlighting your clients' successes, you can demonstrate your expertise and attract new clients who are looking for similar results.

1 Inspiring Idea

As you may know, I believe social media to be a channel, a marketing medium to get your right message out to the right people.

As a channel, Instagram is pretty large, hard to ignore...and growing. It has over 1 billion active users and users spend an average of 53 minutes per day on the app. By using targeted hashtags and engaging content, you can attract potential clients from all over the world.

It certainly is a visual platform….and as service providers, content creators, coaches and consultants...it allows you to use photos and videos which makes it ideal for showcasing your products or services. You can highlight your work and give potential clients a sense of what they can expect from working with you.

Like all social platforms, it’s not an overnight success tool. The key is to commit to it and be consistent.

Give Instagram a go if you're not on it already. If you are, ask yourself, how are you going to maximise it?
